END-OF-LIFE-DOULA SERVICES

End of Life Doula, also known as a Death Doula, provides non-medical, holistic support to individuals and their families as they approach death. They offer guidance, comfort, and practical assistance, focusing on emotional, spiritual, and logistical needs during the dying process.

Key Roles and Responsibilities of a Death Doula:

  • Emotional Support: Creating a safe space for individuals to discuss their fears, anxieties, and wishes related to death.

  • Practical Support: Assisting with tasks like advance care planning, creating legacy projects, and coordinating with family and friends.

  • Spiritual Support: Facilitating conversations about meaning, purpose, and beliefs, and offering support based on individual spirituality.

  • Vigil Planning: Providing companionship and support during the final stages of life, including vigil planning and sitting vigil.

  • Grief Support: Offering support and resources to the individual and their family during the grieving process.

  • Advocacy: Helping individuals understand and navigate medical procedures and make informed decisions.

  • Legacy Work: Facilitating activities like creating memory books, writing letters, or planning celebrations of life.
